ADAS CALIBRATION EQUIPMENT
FOR AUTO GLASS SHOPS

THE GLASS AND THE TECHNOLOGY. Why glass operations review calibration capability — equipment categories and business context, with no calibration procedures.

Modern vehicles bring camera- and sensor-related systems into glass work. For glass operations that perform calibration or are adding it, that means professional equipment: calibration frames, target systems, diagnostic platforms and the shop considerations around them.

This guide connects the glass operation to FixFin's ADAS calibration authority without repeating it — and without any calibration procedures. CALIBRATION REQUIREMENTS VARY BY VEHICLE, INSTALLED SYSTEMS AND REPAIR PROCEDURE — no universal requirement applies anywhere on this page.

WHY GLASS AND ADAS INTERSECT

Vehicle systems that assist driving often live in and around the glass — which is why glass service is one of the workflows where businesses increasingly review calibration capability. Whether a specific service on a specific vehicle requires calibration is determined by the vehicle manufacturer's service information and the equipment manufacturer's procedures. FixFin finances the equipment; it doesn't determine requirements.

NO UNIVERSAL CALIBRATION CLAIM. FixFin does not claim every windshield replacement requires static calibration, dynamic calibration, or any calibration at all — requirements depend on the vehicle, the installed systems and the repair procedure.

THE EQUIPMENT CATEGORIES

CALIBRATION SYSTEMS

ADAS calibration frames and target systems
Camera and radar calibration equipment
Positioning equipment

DIAGNOSTICS

Professional scan platforms for the workflows around calibration
Vehicle communication equipment
Battery support equipment for stable vehicle power during service work

SHOP CONSIDERATIONS

Dedicated level floor space for the calibration bay — a conceptual planning factor, not a dimension specification
Professional lighting and workspace considerations
Alignment capability where the workflow calls for it — not every glass calibration requires wheel alignment

TARGET LAYOUTS, DISTANCES, HEIGHTS AND VEHICLE POSITIONING BELONG TO THE EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER'S PROCEDURES AND THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S SERVICE INFORMATION. FixFin provides none of them — and never a way to skip or bypass a required calibration.

ADDING CALIBRATION CAPABILITY?

Describe the equipment package — calibration frame, targets, diagnostics — and the review starts with what you're actually buying.

STATIC VS DYNAMIC, AT A HIGH LEVEL

Calibration approaches vary — some performed in the shop, some involving driving the vehicle under specified conditions — and which applies depends on the vehicle and the applicable procedure. The existing FixFin guide compares the concepts at a business level.

NEW VS USED CALIBRATION EQUIPMENT

Calibration technology is current-generation by nature, so most frames, targets and scan platforms are bought new. Where eligible, used calibration equipment can be considered — with specific diligence: target completeness, software, licenses, subscriptions, manufacturer support and included accessories, none of which automatically transfer from the previous owner. Confirm everything independently with the seller and the manufacturer.
