A mechanics truck or field service truck is a complete mobile workshop — engineered as one machine from a chassis, a service body and a long list of installed capability. This checklist organizes every major system that goes into a build, in the order most builders spec them.

Capacity, compatibility and integration decisions belong to the manufacturer and upfitter — this is the planning picture.

CHASSIS, BODY & CRANE

The commercial chassis — light-, medium- or heavy-duty per the application
Service body or crane body with compartment layout
Hydraulic service crane — telescopic or articulating configurations
Outriggers and stabilizers
PTO and hydraulic power systems
Workbench bumper and bench vise

AIR & WELDING

Compressor — underhood, hydraulic-driven or engine-driven configurations
Air receiver and storage
Air hose reels
Generator and welder/generator combinations
MIG / TIG / stick or multiprocess welding capability
Plasma cutting where the service mix requires

Oil reels, grease reels and hose management
Recovery / salvage systems

STORAGE, POWER & LIGHTING

Tool drawers, bolt bins and parts storage
Workbench and vise systems

TECHNOLOGY, DIAGNOSTICS & SAFETY

Heavy-duty and truck diagnostic platforms
Battery support and jump-start equipment
Rugged laptops, telematics and GPS hardware
Torches and gas storage
Fire suppression and safety equipment
PPE and spill-response equipment

Technology hardware (rugged laptops, telematics, GPS) may be part of the build; recurring software subscriptions are operating costs, not financed equipment.

NEW BUILDS, USED UNITS & FLEETS

New builds are usually quoted as one complete unit by a specialty truck builder — that single quote can anchor the project's equipment picture. Eligible used professional equipment can be considered with the year, make, model and condition of each piece.

Multiple trucks — a mixed fleet of mechanics trucks, lube trucks and tire trucks — can be captured as one project with equipment lines per unit.
